CRAIG Sargeson scored four times as Rossendale stunned the North Western Trains League First Division leaders with their best win of the season.
Micky Graham's men turned it on after the break as they wiped out a one-goal deficit to hit the target five times themselves.
After John Dodd had put the hosts ahead after 24 minutes, Sargeson started the rout five minutes into the second half with a tremendous solo effort.
Collecting the ball 20 yards out, he turned and twisted his way past a posse of defenders to tuck home the equaliser.
And two minutes later the striker made it 2-1 as Rossendale, with on-loan signing Ged Connolly making a successful return at centre-back, took full control against an Abbey Hey side reduced to 10 men following the dismissal of Shaun Pickering.
The visitors played some excellent football and from one of their better moves Neil Ollerton picked out John Borland, who shot just over.
And Dale increased their lead after 70 minutes when skipper O'Brien rose to head home a corner.
Five minutes later Sargeson completed his hat-trick and the same player completed a comprehensive victory from the spot after Danny Heys had been upended.
