BROCKHALL, who recently were forced to drop their second team due to shortage of players, now find themselves leading the pack following their fine win over newly-promoted St Philip's in the first division.

The home side put up a fighting battle throughout but were completely outplayed. They did manage to take two games away from the visitors. Salesbury B moved into second place with a hefty surprised defeat of YMCA B, who never really got started all night.

Newly-promoted Belgrave Carpets were somewhat out of their depth in their opening match of the season against an improving Stanhill A side. The home team dominated play, but the carpet side put up a good performance and won convincingly in the five games that they secured.

The only club in the league that has never been beaten came close to losing for the first-time ever. Tag, promoted and now playing in the Third Division, took a narrow win over Aztecs. With the game level after the mixed doubles, but visitors Aztecs having slightly the better ace score, Tag set about restoring their pride and were rewarded by all the level doubles also being equal. They clawed back the slight deficit of aces to win the match by just two aces and officially retain their record in the league programme. Meanwhile, Prince head the table after a fine win over home side Olympic A.

The only club to join the league this season played their first match against Blackburn Blinds. While the Roefield Leisure Centre side started nervously, the visitors took advantage and built up a commanding lead.

Roefield fought back and although taking only games, their first experience should provide the confidence to set them up for the season.

Formerly relegated Salesbury B now head the Fifth Division following a fine win over Blackburn Blinds, but already Westholme WL are showing that they are not a side to be left out of the frame with a massive win over Blackburn Juniors B.

The two top sides from the Fourth Division were involved in a close match, with leaders Accrington Falcons losing narrowly to second-placed Roefield C. The positions of these two sides is now reversed.

Newly-promoted Blackburn Juniors A earned a well deserved win over Olympic B. These junior players are now beginning to be a force to reckoned with as they gain experience.
