FORMER Duxbury Park and Shaw Hill pro Howard Bennett, who coaches all the Irish national sides and Chorley tour star Lora Fairclough, and amateur partner Tom Nowell from Pleasington were beaten by a shot in the Rudding Park Ping Super 60s' Tournament at Harrogate yesterday after a battling final round of 67.
Tacked to their opening 69, they were leaders in the clubhouse at eight-under-par until they were pipped by the last pair on the course.
Midlanders Nick Melvin and David Rothwell took the title and left Bennett and Nowell regretting their final hole bogey.
