THE leaves of autumn are starting to fall and again the poppy is beginning to bloom.
It is that time of year when we remember the debt we owe to all those who fell and give thanks to those who returned, that we could live in freedom.
The Royal British Legion needs more volunteers to help with collections during the Poppy Appeal.
Can any readers spare one hour or maybe two hours in November they could help us raise vital funds to care of ex-service men and women?
Just one or two hours will help keep the Act of Remembrance alive.
You will help with the Poppy Appeal in my area, which covers Longton, New Longton, Higher Penwortham, Bamber Bridge, and Walton-le-Dale, Gregson Lane, and Hoghton.
Assistance will help us make the simple, yet poignant symbol of remembrance available to all those who wish to wear it.
Of course, if you could spare us more than one or two hours we'd be delighted.
Please give us a hand and, if you can help, ring me on (01772) 745839.
