I AM a British citizen and served my country for six and a half years, taking a bullet in the leg in the process.
And I can't get a penny from the government.
I am trying my best to get a job but because my wife earns enough for us to scrape by, but the government won't give me a thing.
I have been told I didn't pay enough National Insurance in 1996 - a year which has been and gone - so I don't qualify for anything.
I can't afford letters and stamps to apply for jobs and if it wasn't for my bicycle, I wouldn't even be able to get around town.
But the government has the cash to put Kosovan refugees in fully-furnished accommodation and is able to give them money each week.
Fair enough, the Kosovar people are having a very tough time and the government had to help, but should they be getting money that the government refuses to give to British Citizens?
I want to work and get told that I must go out every day to find it - but I can't afford to.
I should be entitled to some help.
The government obviously cares more about what's going on outside this country than in it.
It's pathetic the way this government spends money - they should ask people how to spend it and give us a choice.
And they say charity begins at home.
