WITH only one match remaining in the league, Colne Cricket Club are favourites to take the title.

They currently hold a nine point lead over second-placed St Andrew's who won the title last season.

This week, Colne had a 14-0 home victory over Turton, Barry Driver and Alan Handford both recording 21-6 home wins. St Andrew's had a 10-4 win at Rishton Con, Martin Dillon, Mick Woodworth and Simon Willcocks all had 21-12 away victories. Graham Roberts won 21-8 for Rishton Con.

Darwen Subs are in third spot, one point ahead of fourth-placed Great Harwood. They had a 14-0 home win over Farington Con, John Bentley winning 21-9. Fourth-placed Great Harwood went down 10-4 at East Lancs. Fifth placed Sunnybank had a narrow 8-6 win at neighbours Haslingden, Phil Storey winning 21-8 and Andy Pilkington winning 21-8 for Haslingden. Globe won 10-4 at Mortfield, Graham Wood winning 21-8. Brian Duncan won 21-12 for Mortfield. Greenhill gained a narrow 8-6 home win over Edgworth, Tony Byrne winning 21-11 and Mick Middle winning 21-14 for Edgworth. St Stephen's had a 12-2 home win over Nelson, Neil Harvey winning 21-15 and Malcolm Shaw winning 21-14 for Nelson.

It is going to be an exciting last match on Sunday when the top five positions will be decided. All top clubs are away from home.
