BLACKPOOL South MP Gordon Marsden was invited to view exciting new plans for Palatine High School on Monday (October 4).
Demand for places at the school has grown to such a level that a £1 million building project to increase facilities at the South Shore school gets under way next month.
The centrepiece will be a Palatine Arts Centre catering for music, art and ceramics.
In addition an Arts Theatre and new library will be built as well as existing buildings being refurbished.
Headteacher John McNaughton said: "The people of south Blackpool have shown great confidence in Palatine School by sending their children here in increasing numbers.
"It is fitting their trust is to be repaid by having a school equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. Gordon was clearly impressed by what we have in mind."
