CARLETON A have made an impressive start to the season winning both their matches 8-2, the last against Ansdell Arena A to head the table in the premier division of the Lytham St Annes and District Table Tennis League.
By contrast, last season's champions Marton Institute lost both their opening matches 8-2 to Seasiders A and St Annes YMCA A.
Prebond B took an early lead at the top of the first division with a 5-5 draw against St Annes YMCA B, but have played a match more than second-placed St Annes Lawn Tennis B, two points adrift, who beat AXA (Guardian) B 8-2.
Early successes for St Annes Lawn Tennis C, 7-2 winners over Rotary Club of Lytham, saw them heading the second division, followed by three clubs, Rotary Club of Lytham, Carleton C and Ansdell Arena C, all of whom are in contention to take the lead.
