Vale 17 Bridlington 19 VALE of Lune are still searching for their first home win this season after narrowly losing to Yorkshire side, Bridlington.

Brid's forwards were too big and strong and dominated play for long periods and Vale couldn't muster enough power despite a brave fightback.

The Tykes made full use of the blustery weather and whipped in two penalty goals after just two and five minutes.

Another was poached after 15 minutes and Anthony Cadman could only watch his effort rebound off the post.

In the 55th minute Brid piled on the pressure and a series of scrummages saw them eventually collapse over the line for a try.

The scooped another try five minutes later when Matthew Girking collected from a try and slipped over the line.

As the weather worsened Vale started fighting back and Matthew Dobson raced away to score a well-taken try with a terrific burst of speed in the 77th minute.

In injury time Vale pushed everything forward and Cadman was released by Baines for a last gasp consolation.
