Morecambe 1 Woking 0 JUSTIN Jackson was back to his best against one of his former clubs on Saturday.
And he'll have to be on form for a few weeks yet - even with Andy Milner making his long awaited comeback - with other striker Phil Eastwood possibly facing a knee operation.
Eastwood was due to meet a specialist today. If the verdict is bad he could face a lay off for at least a month.
Jackson had the disappointing 1,200 crowd up on their feet after 12 minutes. The £30,000 striker chased the same ball as Woking keeper Darryl Flahavan at the near ball. The keeper stuck an arm out and Jackson fell.
Referee Russell Tiffin had no hesitation pointing to the spot. Jackson took it himself to record his sixth goal of the season.
And that was it, action over. Morecambe had one or two chances but never really got a grip on the game and Woking never really looked like leveling the scores.
Kenny Takano nearly scored early on in the second half. He hit a 25-yard belter that skimmed the crossbar.
Woking finally went for it late on in the second half and had a few half chances. But, against the run of play, it was the Shrimps who came closest in the last few minutes. This time Jackson turned villain. He beat the offside trap and ran on a clever ball from Hardy. The striker only had the keeper to beat but he shot wide.
Morecambe are away at Stevenage Borough on Saturday.
