LOWTON Youth Club members are planning a series of fund-raising frollicks - to help take orphaned Romanian children on holiday in their home country.
Their efforts start on Saturday with a car wash session between 10am and noon on the Lowton Independent Methodist Church car park on Newton Road.
Leader Samantha Simpson said three club members went out to Romania during summer to take abandoned children out into the countryside for a week's break.
Yvette Hanson,14, Gareth Hill, 16, and Phillip Evans, 18, got so much out of the trip it totally changed their outlook on life.
Now they want to send more children out to the orphanage supported by the Lowton Churches Appeal next summer
- but first they will have raise £350 each.
Sam, one of four club leaders, said: "The first three went out with Yvette's dad and camped down in a local school. They had to rough it, but they really enjoyed it.
"We would like to see a lot more of our 35 members out there next year."
The group have also planned a car boot sale, sponsored swim, three peaks climb, John O' Groats to Lands End bike ride and a car cram.
"I'll even have my long hair shorn off to a baldy head if I can raise enough to send three children," said Sam.
"And we'd like to appeal to local businesses to help us. A lot of children would benefit greatly from the experience."
The car wash will take place every Saturday from this week.
