A 52-year-old man died following a blaze at a house in Gloucester Street, Parr, on Monday night.
The body of 52-year-old Ronald Edwards was recovered from the living room of the home - a female occupant managed to escape unhurt.
The living room was severely damaged by fire and the hall, stairs and landing were severely damaged by smoke.
Spokesmen for both the police and the fire brigade said that the fire is not thought to be suspicious.
