YOUNG would-be fashion designers in Pendle are being urged to turn out some rubbish designs for clothes, literally, and take part in an unusual catwalk show.
Environmental education group Community Action Network (CAN) wants children to come up with ideas for clothing made from rubbish as part of a fun day of events aimed at promoting environmental awareness.
The event starts at 11am on October 30 at the Admiral shopping centre, Nelson.
CAN support worker Helen Blyth said: "The event aims to make children aware of the importance of recycling and re-using items which are usually thrown away.
"We will prove you can turn rubbish into fun ideas and useful goods.
"We'd like children to come dressed in their outfits made of rubbish such as cans, empty crisp packets and so on and model them for us on the catwalk."
A workshop will also be held on how to recycle rubbish and compost waste.
And there will be stands run by various local organisations such as Pendle Council, Lancashire Wildlife Trust and Tidy Britain Group.
Competitions and quizzes will be held during the day.
All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
