TENANTS and homeowners will be asked to play their part when Bury Council rings the changes to save energy.
The local authority has appointed Access Telemarketing to carry out a detailed telephone survey in the borough in a bid to radically improve energy efficiency in the home.
Councillor Stuart Kaufman, the council's Local Agenda 21 spokesman, said: "We are using the services of an experienced telephone marketing company to build up a fairly accurate picture of the situation.
"Access Telemarketing will be telephoning local homes and asking owners and tenants to take part in the survey. It will be a few simple questions but the information we gather will be invaluable.
"Those findings will then be collated by the council and used to meet the requirements of the Home Energy Conservation Act. At the same time we can use them to help our own long-term planning when it comes to improving energy efficiency in our area generally."
