THE Bury Times Group has become one of the first newspaper publishers in the North West to gain the coveted "Investors in People" status.
The award, which recognises the company's commitment to staff training and development, took just 12 months to secure.
The Bury Times Group was guided through the process by consultants from Bolton and Bury Chamber.
The "Investors in People" award was presented to the group - owned by Newsquest, a Gannett company - on Tuesday.
Mr Andrew Heydeman, head of workforce development at Bolton and Bury Chamber, made the presentation at the headquarters of the Bury Times.
Said Mr John Waters, managing director of Newsquest, Bolton and Bury: "This is not the end of it - in fact, being awarded 'Investors in People' is just the beginning for us.
"We are making strong and positive commitments to improving all our standards. There is much more we want to achieve."
