BOWLER Harold Peake is Leigh's Champion of Champions.
The Botanical Gardens stalwart hit Peake form to take the trophy at Leigh Bowling Club from a strong field of 18 players - each of whom qualified by winning the merit in their respecting leagues or individual knockouts.
He began by beating Westleigh Village's John Atherton 21-18 and Alan Price (Hindley Green) 21-14, both come-from-behind victories.
In the semi he totally outplayed one of the favourites in Phil Boydell.
In the other half David Green beat Tamar teammate Colin Ackers, who came back from 20-11 down before losing 21-18; he then played his best bowls to demolish John Smith 21-7.
In the semi he faced Steady Eddie Grainger, who had already seen off Colin Grimshaw and Nev Sweeney. But Green edged him 21-20 in a thriller.
The final was a one-sided affair with Peake scoring an emphatic 21-12 victory.
On Sunday Harold completed a famous weekend double when he won the Botanical Gardens Open.
He first beat Ken Brookes, then Bill Seddon, who had already beaten John McCaul in an epic encounter.
