I SEE that, yet again, Lancashire Constabulary is claiming a success for its latest campaign against drivers (LET, September 28).
It is obviously welcome that the number of accidents "where alcohol was involved" was lower.
What the force's road safety co-ordinator Ian Bell did not say was how many of the "many thousands" - his words not mine - tested were shown to be positive. Could we have this information please?
What is a "drink-related accident?" Supposing a driver, who has had a drink, is smashed into at an intersection by another driver who had not had a drink, but had ignored a halt sign. Is that a "drink-related accident?"
Is this yet another case of sledge hammer and nuts, and will the force please state once and for all if what they do is lawful, or perhaps Blackburn's MP, the Home Secretary, would like to comment?
