WHY is each elected government hell-bent on driving the motorist off the road?
The latest measure proposed is for an anti-theft device to be fitted to all vehicles.
Cars are stolen, but nobody seems to steal my F-reg though, and it may cost £150 to install one of these things.
It's yet another idea, on top of suggested lower speed limits for arterial roads and town centres (if you can get into them) with fines for exceeding the limits by just one mile an hour.
Tolls on motorways are also proposed, along with banning cars from centres and making people park and ride.
And don't forget the overpriced cars sold in England and road tax, MoT, insurance, repairs and ever-rising petrol prices all eating up motorists' money.
Then, of course, there's the dreaded road calming measures - humps, chicanes, bollards and yellow lines in all directions.
You would think the world was filled with villains from the motoring fraternity.
When is the government going to pump resources and effort into apprehending the real law-breakers?
Maybe the real reason for all this is that it's easier to sit back with the Panda cars and cones, adopt all the aforementioned, arrest and rake in the fines.
