THE Labour-run council has done it again. It has abused its power and hit at the disabled people in our community.
It has proposed to do away with four parking spaces in Yorkshire Street, Burnley, to make room for another taxi rank.
Is this council not aware that this month the Disability Discrimination Act came into being.
This Act has been brought about to help the disabled easier entry to where they have been denied or have only been able to use with difficulty.
At the Labour party conference Tony Blair said "let my people free."
In this case the people have once again been told what will be.
Yes, the disabled will be free, they will be free to vote for a council that will take care of the people rather than just talk about it.
Where will Peter Pike MP be standing on this matter?
I only hope that he comes forward pretty sharpish to tell this council "hands off."
I can only feel contempt for the members of the planning committee. I hope they never have to use an orange badge.
IAN MORRISON, Lowerhouse Lane, Burnley.
