REMARKS and comment made by Mrs Sue Gregson (LET Sport Letters, September 21) about boo boy tactics by Rovers fans, aimed at their own team, mooted a valid point.

Surely a true supporter would, as the word suggests, give encouragement and support to the team, even when they are playing below par.

You pay your money to watch the game, and hopefully get pleasure, but if the only way you can achieve this is to heckle, abuse and boo your own team, it's a sorry state of affairs.

All the money in the world will not guarantee that a player must produce a brilliant performance. Ask the fans at Newcastle. I feel Mrs Gregson has a knowledge of the game.

If there were rules for supporters I am sure they would not include bad behaviour to opponents, officials, racialism or maybe slagging off your own team.

I suppose disgrunted fans will be there if and when the Rovers achieve Premiership status again, but will they ever make it, if the supporters or shall I say certain sections of them, continually lower the morale of the team by boo boy tactics.
