ANGRY neighbours are demanding answers from electricity giant Norweb after all their bills were sent to one house.

Robert Mariner and Edward Hughes couldn't believe their eyes when they opened their electricity bill on Saturday morning to find not one but five bills - four of them for neighbouring houses on Woodbine Road, Blackburn.

So Mr Hughes tried ringing Norweb for advice but was passed from department to department without getting any answers.

So he set off down the street to hand deliver the bills himself.

He said: "It is ridiculous. I don't want to see my neighbours' bills and I'm sure they don't want me to see them either.

"It wouldn't have been so bad if they were all in separate envelopes, but they were all stuck in one so that all the bills were clearly visible.

"I've tried ringing Norweb, but I just kept getting put on hold."

Angry neighbour Walter Halstead: "Is this some sort of new privatisation, save money by getting neighbours to deliver each other's bills? Mr Hughes spent his morning going up and down the street knocking on doors and explaining what had happened. It just isn't on."

Norweb communications executive Mike James said: "We are not aware of a problem of this nature having occurred before. We are holding an urgent investigation to determine the cause."
