IN THE four-match first round of the KO Cup there were wins for Alma Inn, 5-2 over Wilpshire Bull's Head, Crown Scaffold, a first win of the season 3-1 over Brownhill Arms, Stanhill Lions 3-0 victors over De Lacy Arms and Lord Nelson the narrowest of wins 1-0 over Knuzden FC.
Only two matches were played in Division One due to Cup commitments. Leaders Plough Inn maintain their 100 per cent record in a 3-0 win over Lower Darwen. This follows their progress in the Jennings Bitter Sunday Trophy with a 3-0 win over Barrowford Nomads last Sunday. In the other Division One match, a bagful of goals resulted in a 7-4 win for Oaklea Alexander at the expense of Rishton Arms.
Division Two leaders Brown Cow and Cross Axes both recorded wins, both by a five-goal margin. Brown Cow 5-0 victors over Little Crown and Cross Axes 6-1 over Oswaldtwistle Rovers. Alma Inn drop down to third place, but this was due to their inolvement in the Cup. Duke of Wellington had another good result and lie fourth in the division after a 5-0 win over Knuzden Brook.
A change of club name this week - Blackburn Bull's Head will now be known as Roebuck FC. This change of name also changed their luck when they beat Calderstones Hospital 5-2. Three matches were played in Division Three. The leaders King's Arms were without a fixture, but second placed Griffin's Head got a shock when they went 5-1 down to an improving Woodnook FC. Low Moor got back to winning ways after a 6-2 win over Crown Veterans with Chris inard scoring a hat trick and Printers stay in joint second place with a 4-3 win over LS Roofing.
There is a disturbing report from Haslingden Sports Centre. For the second time in three weeks there was a break-in during match play with cash and watches stolen. Clubs playing there are advised not to leave valuables in the dressing rooms. Lock them in the car boot or have responsible club officials keep them until after the match.
The official LFA membership book is now available and can be collected from Peter Tate at his Rishton home.
