A FED-UP parish council chairman has offered a cash reward to catch the thieves who stole a bench two days after it was placed at a popular beauty spot.
The £400 bench was installed by Billington and Langho Parish Council in leafy Elker Lane which runs between the two villages.
Parish council chairman Graham Sowter said he had received several requests for a bench to be installed.
He said: "It was bolted to the floor, but the thieves just snapped the feet off. If anyone comes across a green steel bench with no feet, we want to hear from them.
"It's unbelievable that anyone would want a bench with no feet. The thieves don't think about the tremendous value that villagers place on these things.
"We can't risk putting another one there. It just goes to show what parish councils are up against."
Coun Sowter has offered a £25 reward from his own pocket for information leading to the recovery of the bench. If you have any information, please contact Clitheroe Police on 01200 443344.
