FOLLOWING the news that Barnoldswick Round Table have set up a Trust Fund for him, Lee McCash has received another boost with selection for the Belgian Cross Cup race at Ghent.
The English Cross Country Association has selected last year's top four under 17s, including Pendle's Lee, for the under 20 race on November 7.
The first league match of the cross country season was the Red Rose fixture at Bury on Saturday. Rossendale Harriers contested all four of the men's races, and three veterans won their age groups in the senior race - Steve Duxbury was first M45, Pete Lyons first M50 and Pete Jepson first M55. At the front, Mark Aspinall was third, Nick Hatchard fifth and Martin Lee sixth, but with Lee not able to count for the team until December, the team was only third, while the veterans were second. Chris White was third junior.
The club fielded full teams in both under 13 races. The boys were second with Ramiro Weeks and Nicky Daunt both finishing in the top ten, and the girls were third thanks largely to Poppy Cooper who took second spot.
