I AM compelled to respond to the letter by Valli Patel, Labour county councillor and chairman of Preston's Muslim Burial and Welfare Society.
Labour County Councillor Patel ought to get his facts right.
His own Labour colleagues on the leisure services committee rejected any proposals to turn the London Road athletic track into a burial ground.
Liberal Democrats supported this because we believe the athletics track should be retained for leisure use.
I personally believe that the location for this burial ground is wrong, whether Muslim, Christian, or any other denomination.
I would suggest to Valli Patel that it is he that is using this issue as a political football.
He says the Muslim people will be unforgiving.
I don't think so. I have many Muslim friends and, if it is explained why this decision was reached, the majority will understand.
