PRESTON College in partnership with St Oswald's Church and Community Centre had an open morning which offered various activities to the residents of Greater Deepdale.
All the activities were free of charge and included fitness testing, a plant stall, aromatherapy, information technology, henna painting, interior design, silk painting, a plant stall, a brass band and a bouncy castle for children.
All participants thoroughly enjoyed the hands-on approach to all the activities.
It was a welcoming and friendly atmosphere where people could have a cup of coffee and have a go at the activities on offer.
The brass band enhanced the atmosphere and encouraged local people to come and have a look at what was going on at the centre. The bouncy castle went down a treat with the younger children, while their parents experienced new skills and chatted to staff about some of the courses that are being offered at St Oswald's Community Centre, in Harewood Road, Deepdale.
All the activities were very popular and stimulated demand for various courses.
The college will be running a number of short courses at the centre, week beginning October 18.
They include an introduction to sports and fitness, introduction to computing, aerobics and aromatherapy.
There are also plans to run a silk painting and interior design course in the near future.
For further information about these courses, call the SRB team on 01772 225510.
The morning was a huge success attracting a significant crowd and giving the local residents access to educational activities. It was encouraging to see families come together to enjoy themselves and discover hidden talents. The college looks forward to developing further work in this area.
