AFTER a much improved performance on Saturday (Oct 9), the tide of change may be flooding into Bloomfield Road.
The Seasiders brought back a point from their visit to Chesterfield - but it could have so easily been three.
Boss Nigel Worthington praised his team's performance, despite being robbed of a penalty.
A draw away at Chesterfield, a team with one of the meanest defences in the league, is no mean feat, however Worthington remains dismayed his team didn't return with all three points.
Those extra two points would have seen the Seasiders climb above Cambridge, Oldham, Scunthorpe and Reading - but Worthington drew heart from the result.
"I was wholly impressed by a much better performance on Saturday," he said.
"Chesterfield is never an easy place to travel to and we did really well.
"The penalty decision didn't fall for us this time - but that's football.
"It was refreshing to see the team work together as a unit and not simply as individuals." Now Nigel is hoping the game can act as a catalyst for change.
"Chesterfield has two or three chances in the game, but they were swiftly cut off by a couple of good tackles.
"Perhaps a week or ten days ago they would have gone in the back of the net and we would have found ourselves behind.
"Now, however, the players have drawn a great deal of confidence from a solid performance and hopefully we can go on from here into the next important derby games at home to Bury and Oldham with that good form and get some goals."
And it looks like new faces may soon be on their way to Bloomfield Road.
Nigel said: "We are constantly looking at new players to bring into the club.
"However, at the moment I don't want to name names.
"One thing is for certain," he said "the speculation surrounding a deal with Preston for Kurt Nogan is just that ... speculation."
