Haresfinch 4, Wigan St Pats A 47
A MUCH-changed Finch outfit fell away after a bright opening and slumped to a heavy defeat against the Division Two league leaders.
Failure to take early opportunities again proved costly and the visitors took full advantage to race into a 22-nil lead.
Finch hit back briefly just before the break with an unconverted try by winger Paul Beardsworth.
This prompted hopes of a home revival and Finch again started brightly after the interval. But once again they couldn't make the vital breakthrough and St Pats quickly resumed control adding four further converted touchdowns and a drop goal to complete the scoring.
For Finch, the Franco's Wholesale Ltd. man-of-the-match was young full-back Phil Gwilliam who pulled off a number of try-saving tackles.
