WORKERS based at BAe's Airbus project in Samlesbury downed tools and teed off to raise money for leukaemia sufferers.
Forty golf enthusiasts raised £300 for the Leukaemia Research Fund (LRF) in a competition held at Garstang Golf Club. The total raised was matched by British Aerospace as LRF are their nominated charity for this year.
The event, sponsored by two British suppliers Wesco and Fairchild, is set to become an annual event.
Ian Gibson, charity challenge champion for Airbus at Samlesbury, said: "This is just one of many charity events the Airbus project has held this year.
"Others have included a 24-hour mountain bike ride, bowling nights and red nose day antics; we've even found ways of fund-raising at manager's away days.
"So far this year we have managed to raise more than £1,800 but we hope to significantly improve on this by the end of the year."
