HAYDOCK comfortably won this Lancashire Cup First Round tie.
But it took 20 minutes before the first points were scored when winger Tither went in for a try. Haydock added further touchdowns from Bloor, Mellors and Reynolds plus three goals from Boland. But Bridge did manage to score a good try and converted it.
The second half started as the first with Bridge holding their line intact for the first 20 minutes till fitness told and Haydock ran in another for tries from Bloor, Abbott, Haughey and Pearson, plus three goals from Haughey. Haydock were well satisfied by their performance against a Bridge team which will cause other teams some problems this season. Outstanding for Haydock were Bloor, Kelsey, Haughey and Reynolds.
Haydock B 20, Spring View 12
Haydock third string had a very good victory against a strong Spring View team, but they stuck to their task and played some entertaining rugby to claim their first double of the season. Haydock B went into a 14-8 interval lead with tries from Cooper, Seddon and Bennett with a goal from I Chisnall.
Haydock carried on the good work in the second half with further tries from Williams and a goal from I Chisnall to give the thirds a deserved victory by 20-12.
Outstanding for Haydock B were Livesley, P Worrall and Bennett.
Crosfields under 15s 12, Haydock 19
Haydock kept their composure to win this top-of-the-table clash.
But they trailed 12-10 at the break despite tries by Barry Kerkhof and Matthew Cunliffe, who added a conversion.
Afte the break Cunliffe added two penalties and a length-of-the-field effort by Rekon man of the match Ben Melia sealed the issue. Ashley Shaw was the Craddock and Lamb top tackler. Haydock under 14s 58, Leyland Warriors 6
Haydock recorded an emphatic victory over spirited Leyland. Try scorers were Daniel Leicester (2), Michael Allen (2), Craig Tipene (2), Matthew Allen, Lewis Wood, Tom White, Daniel Rimmer, Oliver Kennedy and Robert Palmer. Goals were added by Rekon man of the match Tom White (4), and top tackler Kevin Hughes.
Haydock under 12s 12, Orrell St James 16
After trailing 12-4 at the break, Haydock came back strongly. Their tries came from S. Hudson, man of the match D. Johnson and M. Tickle. Top tackler was J. Walker. Coaches awards went to M. Cieslar and M. Tickle, while L. Yates was most improved.
Haydock under 13s 4, Halton Hornets 30
This scoreline diesn't reflect Haydock's efforts. Their try scorer was Barry Helsby, who also won the Pizza Perfect most improved player award. Daniel Gregory was the Thirsty Yicker top tackler. Barry Welding was the unsung hero, while James Taylor and Craig Houghton received coaches awards. The Sharpe man of the matchw as Barry Barton.
Haydock under eights 30, Halton Hornets nil
Coaches award winner Kyle Braithwaite grabbed a hat-trick of tries, while others came from Jordan Gibson (2), West Lancs man of the match Aaron Lloyd, top tackler Nathan Halliwell, Gary Anderton and Scott Hale. Carl Dingsdale was most improved.
