A GREEN Leigh school is flying the prestigious Eco flag.
Colourful St Peter's Juniors is first in town to win the honour, a European environmental award, which recognises the highest standards in environmental practice and management.
The Firs Lane school is thrilled to be recognised for its work and proud pupils are pictured with their latest award 410/218/1. In recent years the school has brightened up its vicinity by painting fantastic murals in the playground areas.
The school has been working with the People & Places Education Programme and made great efforts to qualify.
The schools are assessed on seven elements of the Eco Programme which include setting up a committee of pupils, teachers and the community.
Also carrying out an environmental review, deciding on targets and drawing up an action plan, and showing evidence of effective monitoring and evaluation.
They also had to show evidence of making progress towards targets, undertake a week in action or show how the community is actively involved.
