LANCASHIRE police were celebrating a fall in the levels of overall recorded crime this week.
Overall recorded crime in the county fell by 11,790 offences (or 10.1 per cent) during 1998/99. Violent crime comprised 10.3 per cent for England & Wales as a whole. The police in Lancashire recorded 12,190 domestic burglaries and 7,350 thefts of motor vehicles during the year. Some 34 per cent of all crimes were cleared up during 1998/99; the average for all of England and Wales was 29 per cent.
