TRADERS fed up of waiting for improvements to the Longfield Precinct in Prestwich are considering a rent and rates strike.
Disillusioned members of the Prestwich Business Forum have floated the idea as possible way of venting their dissatisfaction at the lack of progress on plans to re-vamp the shopping centre.
The idea was discussed at a meeting of the forum but members stressed the drastic option was only being "considered".
Plans were announced in April 1997 by precinct owners Bourne End Properties for a £1.5 million cash injection into the area.
However, these stalled on several points including concerns about relocating the library upstairs.
