LEISURE chiefs are on track to provide a missing walkway link.
Planning permission has been given to create a recreational path and access steps along the former Bury to Bolton railway line off Wellington Street, Bury.
The path will link one currently being created at Baron Street with another path to be created close to Elton Reservoir .
The Wellington Street scheme involves repair works to the viaduct over the River Irwell and the surfacing of part of the track bed. Steps and ramps leading to the public roads would also be constructed.
The link path forms part of a multi-thousand pound scheme to provide a leisure route - for cyclists and ramblers - between Bury and Bolton, and to reduce the amount of traffic on the borough's main highways.
