A FIREFIGHTER with a heart of gold has given a new home to a kitten which was thrown down a chimney by teenage yobs.
Firefighters were called to Fishmoor Family Centre, Blackburn, last night to be told that the kitten had been tossed into the chimney pot.
The chimney and flue were still hot as they led to the centre's boiler.
But firefighters found that a bend in the flue had broken the kitten's fall and it was cowering behind the boiler with just a few singes to its fur.
And firefighter Nigel Goldthorpe was so taken with the cat that he has adopted it - and named it Lucky.
