ROSS Worswick looks set to carry his family motorsport heritage into the next millennium.
For the 10-year-old Blackburn schoolboy, son of 1999 BOSS champion Tony Worswick and nephew of rallyman Nigel Wosrwick, has just captured his first major trophy.
Ross won the prestigious Gold Cup at Wigan's Three Sisters track, after a clean sweep of two heats and the final on his 60cc, 60mph Cadet-class Zip kart.
"People might think I'm biased, but Ross was in brilliant form, " said Tony.
"There's a lot of very talented kids racing, but Ross kept his head under pressure. I was very proud of him when he stepped up onto the podium.
"They weren't easy races either. He came through from 17th and 15th in the two heats, and there was about 5mm between Ross and the runner-up when they crossed the finishing line in the final."
And his win at the Manchester and Buxton Kart Club-organised event was no fluke either.
For Ross, who attends QEGS in Blackburn, is currently leading the Rowrah championship in Cumbria and second overall in Wigan's own series.
"He's been a potential race winner at every meeting contested this year," added Tony.
Next year will see Ross stepping up to the national Cadet Championships before moving into the faster, 100cc TKM series in two years time.
