DARWEN lost for the first time in the league this season after Michael Douglas missed a late penalty.
And manager Steve Wilkes was furious with his side after they crashed to Woodley for the second time in seven days following last weekend's Challenge Cup exit.
"Certain individuals need to start looking over their shoulder because one or two people are starting to think we are a good side," said Wilkes. "If they have that attitude then our season is going to be over by March."
Darwen's chances were hampered by a 10th-minute collision between keeper Lee Purvis and Woodley's Andy Seddon which restricted Purvis's mobility for the rest of the game.
Two minutes later the home side took the lead when a corner fell to Andy Watson on the edge of the box and he scooped a shot into the top corner. Worse was to follow just 60 seconds later when Neil Collier centred for Seddon to slide in the second.
The Anchormen were handed a life-line on the stroke of half time when Jimmy Khan robbed Andy Green and teed-up Paul Baker.
Woodley's Derek Hall was sent off for a second booking midway through the second half.
But Darwen missed the chance of an equaliser when Douglas' spot-kick came back off the post.
