A HEALTH and safety officer at a major Burnley company will receive a national honour tomorrow for his fire safety initiatives.
Mike Sagar, who has worked for Michelin for 29 years, will receive the Lion Award for Fire Safety Management at the Fire Protection Association's Fire '99 - an annual exhibition and conference for fire industry professionals from around the world - held in Harrogate.
Divisional officer Mick Frankland, of Burnley Fire Safety HQ, said: "Though Mike's responsibilities extend to all aspects of health and safety provision at the Michelin factory, fire safety obviously constitutes a major part of his work and it is crucial for the welfare of workers on the site and for the local community.
"Mike has set a standard of excellence recognised as of the very highest order by the Fire Protection Association and the fire prevention industry."
