POLICE are investigating a savage knife attack on a man at a country pub in front of startled families and football supporters.
The attack took place at the height of the Sunday lunchtime rush at the Red Lion in Blackburn Road, Wheelton.
The pub was showing football on a large screen and people had gathered to watch the game.
A man dressed in motorbike gear and a helmet walked into the pub and pulled out what appeared to be a sharp knife or razor.
He slashed his victim across the face, walked out and climbed on the rear of a motorbike.
The bike was driven by a second man who left the car park at speed. Afterwards, the victim was involved in a fight with a third man.
The victim was taken to Chorley hospital and had several stitches.
The attack took place around 4.30pm and police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
The attacker wore a helmet with a visor and a blue motorcycle jacket.
The motorbike was possibly a Kawasaki, black and white with Union Jack flags painted on either side.
