IN REPLY to Mr K Sowerbutts comments (Sports Letters, October 12) on Mrs Sue Gregson's earlier complaints about Rovers' fans booing their own players, these two people are obviously not passionate about football or the Rovers.
The so-called 'boo boys' booed to get a reaction from the players, and after the Barnsley game - when most of the booing occurred - Rovers went on a seven-game unbeaten run.
So, to some extent, the 'boo boys' got the reaction they were after.
The fans who boo are also the ones that cheer the loudest when Rovers score.
The difference between Mr Sowerbutts and Mrs Gregson and the boo-boys, is that the anti-boo brigade spend Saturday afternoons watching a football match, while the boo-boys spend Saturday afternoons watching their team.
They probably also complain that the mascot, Roar, is silly and distracting, and the bloke who bangs the drum gives them a headache.
May I suggest that these two sit together at the next home game and share a quarter of mint humbugs and exchange the latest knitting patterns?
