WHILE I can understand the stance of Lionel Walsh regarding Rovers and Burnley (LET, October 13), in the 1950s and 1960s there was more good-spirited rivalry and less violence between the supporters.
Sadly, most of those supporters are no longer in evidence, though, I hasten to add, the violence is caused by a minority.
In order to demonstrate his point, Mr Walsh should have cut down the centre of the two sides' shirts and stitched them together. Then the statement he was obviously trying to make would have been more readily identifiable.
There are many supporters who both support Burnley and Blackburn, alternating between them on match days when one team is home and the other away.
