RECENTLY a double page spread colour supplement was circulated by the Lancashire municipal waste management steering group, presenting various options on how best to resolve the ever increasing dilemma of waste disposal and invited suggestions along with a detailed graphic questionnaire.
However, I became puzzled at Stage 3 which poses two questions, but indicates only one answer is required.
Q. Would you sort your waste into paper, cans glass, bric a brac, etc, and take it to a local recycling facility? - yes or no.
Perhaps many folk would dispose of their various sorts of refuse into separate recepticles, but would not find it convenient or themselves capable of carrying it to a local recycling facility.
Therefore, should the answer to this double-pronged question be 'no.'
Perhaps the municipal management experts would advise.
J MARSDEN (Mr), Scarborough Road, Blackburn.
Footnote: A spokesman for the Lancashire municipal waste management steering group said the supplement had generated many positive responses from Lancashire people. He added: "This particular question was asked to find how many people were both willing and able to segregate waste and transport it to a household recyling site.
"We have received many comments from people willing to segregate waste but unable to take to recycling centres themselves and these will be taken into account as part of our analysis of responses."
