Cruse, a former first class cricketer for Tasmania in the Sheffield Shield, has been a development officer with Lancashire for three years, and will now take up this role as the focal point for all the recreational cricket organisations within Lancashire.
He will continue to be fully involved in cricket development in the county as his new role embraces the management of the board's three cricket development officers and the implementation of the new development plan to be published in January 2000.
Cruse succeeds Ken Standring, who retires in December.
