IT WAS a weekend of mixed fortunes for the Colne Clarets junior sides this week with only two of the teams managing to take the points, plus one draw and three defeats.
The U-10's' went down to a strong Fulledge Colts side 6-1, Ricky Clayton scoring the Colne goal and defender Phillip Berry taking the man-of-the-match award. A ray of light came in the shape of the U-11's' with another good all round performance making it five out of five with a 5-0 win over Junior Clarets. The goals coming courtesy of a Daniel Rowlands hat-trick, Chris Bell, and man-of-the-match Jack Chew. Colne's
U-12's' went on their travels to Bacup Borough and returned with the three points thanks to a 4-1 scoreline. The honours were even at 1-1 at half time - Jarred Pate scoring for Colne.
In the second half, with Colne playing down the slope, they took full advantage to finish the game 4-1 winners - Pate, Lee Jackson and James Broderick were on target and Martin Belshaw was outstanding as man-of-the-match. The U-13's' team are still looking for their first points of the season as they crashed to a 7-1 defeat at the hands of Brierfield Celtic. Colne's goalscorer, Mark Gregory, was man of the match.
The U-14's' put in a dissapointing performance against Bacup Borough, going down to a 5-1 defeat. Colne's consolation goal came from Asim Majid with keeper Richard Morris picking up the man-of-the-match award.
The U-15's' side ended up on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline. Chris Walton netted Colne's consolation goal with James Kenyon picking up the man-of-the-match award.
In a hard-fought contest, the
U-16's' shared the spoils against Rossendale Valley in an entertaining 4-4 draw.
Colne's goals came from Michael Metcalfe, two for Matt Aspinall, and an own goal. Man-of-the-match was Liam Garbutt.
