THE Hyndburn and District Boys' League progressed to the second round of the LFA Under-14s Inter-League Cup with a crushing 8-0 win over Blackburn Youth League.

Edward O'Neill scored the opening goal, with Christopher Clarkson and David McNeall scoring two each during the first half.

There was no respite for an outclassed Blackburn outfit who conceded a further three goals in the second half. These were scored by McNeall from a penalty (hat-trick), Kurt Riley direct from a free kick, and rounded off with a superb solo run by Lee Steele. He took on three defenders before unleashing a tremendous 25-yard shot which left the Blackburn keeper with no chance at all. The man of the match was David Usman of the Hyndburn side.

In the Under 14s Club Cup competition, Blackburn Eagles finally played their game and defeated Bridge Colts from Heywood after extra time. This means that the Hyndburn League has no fewer than seven teams through to the next round.
