TALENTED teenager Nicky Taylor enhanced his growing reputation with a stunning hat-trick as Bacup swept aside lowly Oldham Town at West View.
Borough are flying in the league at the moment and they never allowed the visitors to settle into any sort of rhythm. The home side went ahead as early as the second minute when David Betts crossed from the edge of the box and striker Stuart Farnell wrong-footed the Oldham keeper with a header.
Nine minutes later Taylor made it 2-0 with a well taken goal inside the six-yard area after beating three men.
Bacup defender Brian Winrow was alleged to have pulled down an Oldham player in the box but keeper Mark Scowcroft came to the rescue by saving Chris Roach's spot-kick.
Then Jimmy Gemmell scored Bacup's third after 25 minutes when a shot ricocheted off his chest into the empty net.
On the half hour, Taylor notched his second when his shot crashed into the roof of the net.
After the break Bacup lost the services of sweeper Paul Rigby with a badly dislocated elbow and Oldham lost skipper Roach for hurling abuse at the referee.
Bacup made maximum use of their numerical advantage when Taylor scored his hat trick by walking the ball round the keeper.
And Damian Moran, who had been a thorn in the Oldham side all night, netted the sixth.
