MATT Jansen summed up the mood in the Rovers camp after another night of frustration at Ewood.
The England Under 21 international missed a host of chances against his former club as Rovers dominated the match from start to finish.
But for all their pressure they couldn't break down a resolute Palace defence and, in the end, they were grateful for Per Frandsen's last gasp equaliser.
"We did everything but get a good result," said Jansen.
"We battled hard, we created chances, but it just would not go in the back of the net for us.
"The amount of chances we had tells a story and on another night I could have had a hat-trick.
"But it was difficult. They came to stop us and sat back and swamped the box.
"We've got to start picking up some points now because it's not looking good at all.
"Hopefully, we can get a good result at Manchester City on Saturday because we need to get a run going and some confidence together so we can start building."
That view was reiterated by man-of-the-match Callum Davidson, who was also critical of the way Rovers gifted Palace the lead.
"It was a bad goal to lose, a bad defensive error, and you cannot afford to do that," said Davidson.
"We had more than enough chances to have won the game and on another day we might have scored five or six.
"But these are the type of games you've got to win if you want to be up there.
"And we should have had six points from these last two home games."
