BURNLEY Reserves were held to a draw by Rotherham at Turf Moor last night.
But following on from last week's win at Millmoor, the Clarets have taken four points from their two meetings with the Pontins' League Second Division leaders.
So with home and away games to come against Lincoln City in December and January, Burnley are favourites to progress to the next stage of the group cup competition.
Mark Robertson scored for the second week running when he converted an early penalty.
But the Clarets wasted a chance to make it 2-0 when Anthony Shandran lifted a gilt-edged opportunity over the bar following good work by Alan Lee just before the break.
And they paid the price when Rotherham hit back to equalise in the second half.
Trialist Chris Allen played a full game on the left-hand side of midfield as he looks to impress Burnley boss Stan Ternent.
And Lee also got 90 minutes under his belt following a short lay-off with a knee injury.
Lee was given some rough treatment all night but came through it and showed some decent touches which will keep him in the frame for a place on the bench against Bristol City on Saturday.
Burnley reserves: Mawson, Scott (Bowden), Devenney (Kelly), Weller, Brass, Williamson, Kevan, Robertson, Lee, Shandran, Allen.
