On Sunday, the North Lancashire Road Club promote their annual hill climb on the 1,400-yard ascent of the Nick O' Pendle and organiser Mike Addis has received the entries from an interesting field of 35 riders.
Numerically, the strongest club entered will be the Blackburn and District CTC who field nine riders, several of whom have already been successful in hill climbs across the North of England this year.
A particularly interesting entry is that of Preston-based Gethin Butler who goes off last man at number 35 with the first rider starting at 11.01am from Sabden.
For many of these competitors it will be the final workout before the National Hill Climb Championship is held on the Rake at Ramsbottom the following Sunday.
In this major event a full field of 120 entries has been received with the first of whom will start at 12.31 and the rest at one minute intervals. The cream of British hill climbers are entered and last man off will be reigning hill climb champion Jim Henderson.
