ONCE again it looks like a case of two steps forward and three steps back.
I seem to remember the Star covering a story about how the local Tories had campaigned to get better traffic calming measures in Rainford.
One of these was an orange strip in Mossborough Road with massive white figures warning drivers to slow down to 30mph.
A few weeks ago, workmen closed off that section of road for drainage works... and of course once they have packed up, a new line of black tarmac runs right through the road marking. What a shambles!
I have to say, perhaps the council might take this opportunity to copy over for Rainford the same idea I have seen at the approach to Burtonwood, where distinctive speed humps do actually kill your speed for you.
